Over 50 Years of Pioneering Group Analysis

Empowering Professionals Through Group-Analytic Training

The Institute of Group Analysis provides comprehensive, tiered training in Group Analytic theory and practice—designed for anyone seeking to develop their skills in group work, whether in clinical, organisational, or educational contexts.

  • Foundation Course – A robust standalone introduction to group analytic theory. Ideal for newcomers, it also serves as the gateway to advanced diploma-level training.

  • Diploma in Groupwork Practice – A more in‑depth, one-year programme that builds on the Foundation course. It deepens theoretical understanding and practical application across social, healthcare, and educational settings. Completion can lead to IGA Group Work Practitioner status and is recognised as equivalent to a postgraduate Certificate.

  • Qualifying Courses & Specialised Settings – For further advancement toward full Group Analyst qualification, including opportunities like reflective supervision and advanced block-format courses.

  • Bespoke Training – Tailored learning programs created to meet the unique needs of organisations, charities, teams, and businesses.

Support and Accessibility:

  • The IGA offers bursary schemes and funding support to make training more accessible to self-funding applicants.

Our Therapy services

Members of the IGA provide therapy in their private practices, the NHS, social services and the voluntary sector. We ensure a safe and supportive space where personal concerns and conflicts can be explored in an atmosphere of trust and confidentiality, and where new solutions to old problems may be found.

Find a Therapist

Your therapeutic journey begins with finding the right match. We encourage you to research specialists who align with your specific concerns, such as trauma or depression, and explore the different modalities available through the IGA. A successful outcome often starts with a simple consultation to ensure their style and personality feel right for you. Use our directory to find a qualified therapist and take that first step toward professional support.

Training Group Analysts

Our Training Group Analysts (TGAs) are senior practitioners authorized to provide the intensive personal analysis and supervision essential to IGA training. This directory is a dedicated resource for current and prospective students to find an approved TGA to support their clinical and personal development. All listed analysts meet the highest standards of professional experience and institutional accreditation.
