Dennis Brown was one of the pillars of modern Psychotherapy and contemporary Group Analysis. His publications, his teaching and supervision along with his generous support and, for many, his sensitive therapy have had an impact which is valued by many therapists and teachers of psychotherapy today.
His was an important contribution to the early development of the European Association for Transcultural Group Analysis where he explored both psychoanalytic and group analytic thinking with his always inquiring mind.
His lifelong enthusiasm and interest in literature and the arts constantly enriched his writing.
The Dennis Brown Bursary was set up in 2013 by his widow Dorothy Brown in memory of her husband Dennis Brown.
WHO can apply:
The Dennis Brown Bursary will be awarded to a trainee on either the Diploma or Qualifying Course who has a demonstrated interest in intercultural group analysis and the development of Group Analytic theory.Â
Applicants must either have secured a place, or have applied for a place, on the IGA’s Diploma in Group Work Practice or Qualifying Courses in the UK.

Dennis Brown Essay Prize
The Dennis Brown essay prize of £500 will be awarded to the candidate who submits an essay at the end of the Qualifying Course and is assessed by the Training Team as reflecting their work in making use of group analytic theory and practice to make sense of transcultural issues.
