Virtual Introductory Weekend in Group Analysis September 2023
Updated: Sep 12

Date: 16 - 17 September 2023
Via Zoom
This innovative weekend training offers you the opportunity to experience how you may benefit from group analysis and what a training course at the IGA may offer to you. You will gain a valuable insight into the dynamics of social and professional groups and how you can enhance your effectiveness in groups of all kinds. You will have the chance to explore how you relate to others in a group situation and how others experience you. During the weekend, conducted entirely via Zoom, you will learn the fundamentals of the group analytic perspective by taking part in several experiential small and large groups and attending two theoretical lectures. In addition, you will benefit from the learning that has occurred with all IGA therapy groups and training being online in recent months.
The weekend will benefit health professionals, organisational managers and individuals, and will be useful for anyone interested in learning about group dynamics on a professional and/or personal level.
The experiential nature of the course means it is essential that participants attend for the whole duration. Each participant will be asked at application to agree the boundaries of the virtual setting to ensure confidentiality.
Why Group Analysis?
Group Analysis is a powerful therapeutic medium that focuses on the relationship between the individual and the group, emphasising the essentially social nature of human experience. Group analysis brings into the foreground the emotional, behavioural and psychological phenomena which emerge in the context of all groups. Carefully constituted group analytic groups have a long record of helping people with personal difficulties arising from their ‘original group’, the family, and significant others, and in promoting personal development.
The Group Analytic approach has profound implications for group work and organisational practice in a wide range of health, social and educational settings. Our philosophy is that as personal difficulties arise in groups; groups are the best place to explore, understand and resolve them.
