Adam Edward Jukes began his career as an academic psychologist, undertaking doctoral research in personal constructs with Prof. Don Bannister, expanding his expertise through training in Gestalt Theory, Transactional Analysis, bodywork, Psychoanalysis, and Group Analysis. In 1985, he founded The Men’s Centre, Europe’s first dedicated treatment facility for men who abuse women and children. His extensive experience includes work with forensic institutions and clinical forensic practice at the Tavistock Clinic.


Over the last 12 years, Adam has focused on the intersection of political theory, psychology, and economics, authoring numerous articles on these topics. He is currently writing a book addressing the social contract and the psychological and social effects of global inequality. Adam is the author of four sole-authored books, including "Why Men Hate Women" and "Is There a Cure for Masculinity," and has contributed to various works on masculinity.


Drawing from his specialism in relational violence, Adam Jukes will lead this the reflections of the day by offering his formulation relating to the impact of international ideological shifts in clinical practice.

Drawing from his specialism in relational violence, Adam Jukes will lead the reflections of the day by offering his formulation relating to the impact of international ideological shifts in clinical practice. Participants will engage in thoughtful discussions that make connections between political ideologies and individual psychological responses, helping to clarify how these shifts affect mental health on both personal and clinical levels.

 

The Forum will be an inclusive group space for participants to use the medium of the group to understand the impact of current socio-political dynamics to individuals, groups and society at large.

Clinicians engaging with the social. Offer a space where clinicians can reflect on how to develop strategies to help your patients navigate their emotions and experiences.

Engage in dialogue about the impact of what can amount to bully tactics and explore collective resilience strategies to respond to and counteract such dynamics


This event is designed for:


  • Mental health professionals and professional in other fields interested in including an understanding of the impact of the social sphere in clinical work

  • Those interested in a psychoanalytic and group analytic understanding of ideology and impact on mental health and social implications.
