Steinar Lorentzen is psychiatrist, psychoanalyst and group analyst and a founding member of the Institute of Group Analysis, Norway. He is also Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Oslo. Steinar Lorentzen is a leader in the development of Short Term Group Analytic work. This workshop for IGA and APP members and other group psychotherapists is based on Steinar’s recently published book ‘Group Analytic Psychotherapy - working with affective, anxiety and personality disorders’, (2014 Routledge), describing many years of extensive research in short-term and group analytic psychotherapy. Following a successful 1-day skills training workshop for group analysts in the UK in September 2014, Steinar is returning to provide an intensive 2-day workshop incorporating skills training in all 4 stages of his STG (Short Term Group Analysis) model in October 2015 for the IGA in London. It will teach the stages and provide role play and discussion groups based on participants’ own case material. Workshop places have been limited to 50 to facilitate an intensive learning environment. Steinar will be supported in delivering this workshop by group analysts familiar with his model. The role plays of 'group psychotherapy' facilitated by Steinar will be filmed for future training purposes for the IGA. Other role play groups will not to be filmed. An IGA workshop in partnership with the APP This 2-day workshop is part of a trilogy of workshops and events on evidence based group psychotherapy and group analytic work. The other 2 events will take place January to July 2016 and will cover the areas of ‘Group Analysis in today’s world of commissioning & NICE guidelines’. This CPD workshop has been commissioned by the CMC (Clinical & Membership Committee) of the IGA.
