Issues in Clinical Assessment and Using Interpersonal Measures
Speaker: Professor Steinar Lorentzen
Convenor: Angela Douglas
Small Group Leaders:
Viv Harte, Sarah Tyerman, Sally Stamp and Ivor Antao
In response to feedback following the introductory 2-day training workshop (Oct 2015) on Professor Lorentzen’s model of short-term group analytic psychotherapy (STG), the IGA is hosting a second workshop addressing aspects of assessment for short-term group analytic psychotherapy. Lorentzen’s model of short term group analytic psychotherapy is the first formal manual based approach for short-term and time limited group analytic psychotherapy and is based on rigorous research.
This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn about aspects of interpersonal formulations in the preparatory phase in the context of a time limited short term approach and consider how this differs from the assessment process for long-term open group analytic psychotherapy.
Participants will have the opportunity to present clinical examples and follow through experiencing the clinical interview and use of interpersonal measures through combined teaching, live demonstration, small group discussion and interview and assessment practice.
It is not essential to have attended the first training workshop to be able to attend this follow up workshop but it is essential to be familiar with the STG model through reading about it prior to the workshop. (Lorentzen, S. (2014) Group Analytic Psychotherapy. Working with affective, anxiety and personality disorders. London and New York: Routledge).
As before, participants will be provided with guidance notes and teaching materials for the workshop. A detailed program will be distributed nearer the time. Professor Lorentzen is travelling from Norway to deliver this workshop and fees take account of this.
Please join us for the launch of the National STG Network after the workshop. Wine and cheese will be provided.
