How to Appear on The Member's Directory

Following the new GDPR regulations and you enquiries, we have set up this page as a step by step guide to make sure people are seeing the details you want them to see.

When you change your details on the Update Your Details page, you can pick one of several categories to put them under; here are the updates on each of the categories.

Home Tab – Confidential - The data on the Home tab in the members’ directory is no longer shared with other members.  This data is reserved for membership processing purposes by IGA Office staff.  This information should be members’ home addresses and not a work or practice address.
Home & Practice – Public / Shared with Members – This tab will be phased out over time as it is contradictory according to the new privacy settings. Please ensure you put any data you wish to keep into the correct tabs eg either Home tab or Practice tab, even if it is duplication. 
Information on this tab will be visible on the Find a Therapist search facility if you tick the box ‘Include in List’.  If you don’t tick this box it is just visible to IGA members.
Practice – Public / Shared with Members - Full IGA Members who have private practice can advertise the practice on Find A Therapist search facility on the IGA website.   Information on this tab will be visible on the Find a Therapist search facility if you tick the box ‘Include in List’.  If you do not tick the box ‘Include in List’ the info is only shared with other IGA members.  Please note it will take 24 hours to synch through the IT system and before it is visible on the public side of the website.
Work – Shared with Members – The information on this tab is only shared with other IGA members.
Unknown – This tab will be faced out over time, so no need to fill in data in this space.

Also, due to these regulations, if the person you are looking for doesn't have their information updated on Find a Therapist or Member's Directory, we are NOT allowed to give it out, even to members. However, what we can do is forward emails or ring them with your contact details to get in touch with you.


In terms of making these changes, this is what you have to do:


1.  To update your details, you mustn't go to the member's directory itself, but the Update Your Details page, which can be found under the Member's and Student's area  tab as shown below.

2. Once you get onto that page,  you will need to change your Contact Details which is shown in the red box below. You can either change the existing address which means you need to press the EDIT button or if you need to add an address it's the ADD ADDRESS button. So far, so straight forward.



3. As mentioned above, the only kind of address that will show up on the member's directory is a work address. To change this, you need to click on the drop down menu that is listed as Address Type and select "Work". Once you are finished,  you have to press the Update button.

4. It will take at least 24 hours before the change can be updated in the database, so do not worry if you cannot see yourself immediately. There are still a lot of people who haven't listed their work address so you can't find anyone you seemingly know, it's almost definitely because they haven't listed a work address.
