IGA Spring Exhibition – ‘Dreams and Reality’ by Francesca La Nave and Judith Symons

    We are delighted to invite you to the first art exhibition and Join-the-Debate event of 2017, which includes a Private View, talk by the artist/s, and a large group.  The event is convened by John Schlapobersky, Group Analyst with a special interest in dream interpretation.

    An intriguing combination, we are honoured to start the year with the artists Francesca La Nave and Judith Symons showing selected works in the exhibition 'Dreams and Reality'.  Francesca has chosen a selection of 'Dreamscapes' whilst Judith has brought together pieces for Reality from her bright graphic collection. Francesca will talk about her work with dreams both in therapy, workshops and art. After the break, John Schlapobersky will convene a large group on Dreams and Dream interpretation supported by Francesca La Nave. 


    6.15 – 7.00pm Private Viewing (free)

    7.00 – 7.30pm Talks and Q&A with the Artist/s, IGA Convenor John Schlapobersky, Group Analyst with an interest in Dream Interpretation

    7.30 – 7.45pm Break and light refreshments 

    7.45 – 9.15pm Large Group on ‘Dreams and Dreams in Art’ convened by John Schlapobersky with Artist and Group Analyst Francesca La Nave

    Art psychotherapy - Group Analytic Psychotherapy
    Francesca now works in a specialist service for patients with Complex Needs, including Borderline Personality disorders. She has developed her competence in the field with a variety of complementary courses, with particular attention to the areas of Mentalization and Systemic Family Therapy. Francesca is also the coordinator for all Arts Therapies Clinical Training placements for her NHS Trust. She is a regular, visiting lecturer on a number of training courses in the UK and abroad; her main subjects include Art Therapy with Adults and Children, Groups, and Mentalization. 

    Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist 
    Judith qualified as an Art Therapist from Goldsmith's in 1983. In 1984 Judith completed the Introductory Course at the IGA.

    John is a Training Group Analyst with the Institute of Group Analysis London and author of From the Couch to the Circle: Group-Analytic Psychotherapy in Practice.
